Escape the noise and chaos of everyday life. Take a deep breath and sink into an intimate evening of solo piano music by the esteemed composer and pianist Richard Chew. Unwind in the serene atmosphere of Her Majesty’s auditorium. Sit back, close your eyes, and become one with your surroundings and the music. This is not your usual piano recital; this is a chance to take a moment and dwell in beauty and breathe.
Piano Day, celebrated globally on March 29th—the 88th day of the year, symbolizing the 88 keys on a standard modern piano—marks its 10th anniversary in 2025. What better way to celebrate than by immersing yourself in the soothing sounds of Her Majesty’s Steinway Model D grand piano?
Richard Chew, Professor of Performing Arts and Director of the Arts Academy at Federation University, is an acclaimed composer and pianist whose music has been performed and broadcast across the UK, Europe, Australia, and the USA.
During this special event, Richard will perform pieces from his forthcoming release, An Inventory of Lost Things. This collection draws inspiration from poetry, painting, and historical moments to weave a narrative of love, loss, faith, and belonging.
As an extra special treat, there will be a limited number of beanbags placed on stage to experience the music up close.
