A TRANSCENDENT NIGHT WITH PERFUME GENIUS
It’s been over a year since we reopened our doors, and we’ve hosted one incredible event after another, but last night was something else entirely. We started summer in bright sunshine, then stepped into an evening immersed in the transcendent sounds of Perfume Genius. No one in that audience was prepared for what unfolded.
Fragility and fierceness. Softness and strength. Intimacy and intensity.
We left transformed. The foyer buzzed with conversation as people dissected every detail, sharing what they had just experienced together. There’s something extraordinary about witnessing an international act in a venue where you’re so close to the artist, a rare intimacy Her Maj affords. The support act, Hand Habits, set the tone perfectly, before they all returned as the band for Perfume Genius, adding depth to the night.
The stage was stripped back, revealing the theatre’s inner workings, a fitting backdrop for the raw beauty of Glory, Perfume Genius’ seventh studio album. The lighting design was nothing short of phenomenal, echoing every subtle shift in the music and pulling us deep into his world.
