DEGUSTATION is a new work from One Fell Swoop Circus that brings contemporary circus and cuisine into one shared sensory experience. Created with Chef Shu Liu of SHU Restaurant, the show unfolds like a tasting menu: a degustation of circus, where each course invites its own unique moment of delight.
Seated around the stage, audiences eat five courses from Shu’s award-winning degustation during the performance. Acrobatics and cuisine meet, sharing a language of the immediate and the sensate: flavour, weight, heat, breath, timing, texture, and touch. The churning mind can take a night off. This is a performance for the body.
Featuring six world-class acrobats, DEGUSTATION continues One Fell Swoop Circus’ interest in the ways people come together, turning that attention toward pleasure, presence and the intimacy of shared experience. More than dinner and a show, it is a celebration of sensation where the meal and the acrobatics shape each other, course by course. Shu’s food and One Fell Swoop’s acrobatics share a language: elevated but unpretentious, technically ambitious but intimate. Both are full of precision, warmth and surprise - spectacular in craft, but grounded in the simple pleasure of people gathering together.
