What happens when everyday people step onto the stage and try to dance like the professionals?
You'll find out this December when we present UNTRAINED, the acclaimed dance theatre work from renowned Australian choreographer Lucy Guerin.
In UNTRAINED, two guys with no dance experience have a challenge, to follow the dance steps of two very experienced and skilled dancers on the same stage. Here’s the good news — perfect moves are not the point! What matters is how the untrained match the professionals in their own entertaining way.
Since its debut at Melbourne's Dance Massive Festival in 2009, UNTRAINED has captivated audiences around the world. The production has been presented at some of Australia's most prestigious arts festivals and venues, including Sydney Opera House, Adelaide Festival and Perth Festival, before touring internationally across the United States, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany and Greece.
Now, the work is coming to Her Majesty's Theatre Ballarat, and we're looking for local men to be part of it.
The result is a joyful celebration of participation, risk-taking and human connection. It's also proof that contemporary dance doesn't always have to be serious. Sometimes it can be funny, playful and incredibly relatable.

We're seeking local male identifying people with no formal dance training to audition.
Successful applicants will:

Whether you're a tradie, teacher, retiree, office worker, student or simply someone who has always wondered what it's like to perform on stage and love to challenge yourself and jump out of your comfort zone, this is your chance to be part of an internationally celebrated production you'll be talking about for years to come.
No dance experience. No special skills. Just a willingness to give it a go.
The two untrained men we are looking for will help create the show during rehearsals and have leading roles on stage. The audience won’t be looking for perfection, they’ll be watching you having a go and will applaud you for it.
